2006 Dodge Durango Vibration

Recently, last 3-4 weeks, this vehicle has developed a vibration that is felt in the steering wheel as well as the seats. Have rotated and balanced the tires, road force balanced and indexed tires, installed new Monroe Reflex shocks front and rear. Vibration is still present, mostly between 70 and 75 MPH. Up to 70 is smooth and also smooths out around 80. Is there a possiblity of driveshaft or trans related? Have turned off O/D, slipped into neutral with no change in vibration, as well as reving engine in nuetral also does not affect the vibration. I don't really want to throw anymore parts at it without being sure. Have thought about pricing new driveshaft from dealer.

Have you checked the u-joints? Also, chances are the driveshaft is fine. Don't replace it unless you know it is bent. If you are worried about balance, have that checked.

I've got an 06 Durango SLT 4.7L 4WD with a slight vibration while gas pedal is depressed. More pronounced under load (up hill). Also noticing loss of power uot he hill. We've felt the vibration for a few weeks now at many speeds. Usually when foot comes off the gas it goes away.

We've had fuel system cleaning, plug replacement, balanced and rotoated all four tires. Checked U Joints - OK.

I'm afraid to put more money in it now. What else have you done? Any updates?

No mechanic has been able to replicate it, though it happens consitently and they don't "feel" it.

What size tires/rims do you have. We've got 265/60R18 tires.

That is an aftermarket rim correct? Have you checked to make sure you don't have a bent rim? Also, could the trans be causing a chatter?

The rim is a Dodge rim, with the horns and everything. I just had it Hunter roadforce balanced and indexed and still no improvement. The tech who roadforced it for me did feel the vibration and believes its CV/driveshaft. I'll know more on Tuesday.

A universal joint or CV joint can cause it. Let me know what you find.
