My headlights, brakelights and even my fog lights flicker on and off when I'm driving. At first, it does it excessively but it seems that when driving long distances they become more steady and not flicker as often. They don't flicker when hitting bumps or braking.

Dandy observation about hitting bumps.

As we demand more and more frills on our vehicles, manufacturers give us what we want but it involves computerized controllers which are extremely unreliable, and expensive to repair. The lights are controlled by a body control module (BCM) or a front electronic module (FEM), depending on the year. I think there's a different name for the FEM. FEM is Ford's name for their unit.

Switches on older cars and trucks were very trouble-free, and when needed, repairs were cheap. That's why I still drive a 1988 Grand Caravan. Every option on it still works, unlike my '95 Grand Caravan with inoperative dome lights due to a defective body computer. Not a cheap fix for that one.
