when first starting vechand then turning the ac it is about 50 degrees and in about 3 minutes gets warm, the compressor is still engaged. When first turning on the ac the low side pressure goes to 70-90 lbs and the high side arounf 250lbs. by the way this is a front and rear air unit. when the ac is turn off and engine nit running the ac low side goes up 110lbs and the high side falls. the ac seems to be equalize when off. does this unit have a expansion valve, filter or what could make this happen.

Hi glenn galloway,

Thank you for the donation.

Symptoms indicates a faulty compressor.

If the low pressure hose and check joints are cooler than around the evaporator, either the exppansion valve is opened too long or it is loose. Replacement of expansion valve is required, located at evaporator.

If the suction pressure is lowered when the condenser is cooled by water, you have excessive refrigerant in system.

If both high and low pressure are equalised as soon as the compressor is stopped and both gauges sluctuates while running, the compressor is bad. Either the gasket or high pressure valve is faulty or foreign particles are stuck in high pressure valve.
Replacement of cpmpressor is required.
