Transmission problem
1999 Dodge Durango V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic
My wife's Durango has the 5.2l V8, 4 speed automatic, which I believe is the 44RE. She started having problems with it not wanting to upshift into 3rd. I would have to redline the engine to get the transmission to upshift into 3rd, then it would almost immediately upshift again into OD. The transmission fluid looked dirty, metallic, so I changed filters and 5 quarts of ATF+4. No change. I plugged in my OBDII scanner on a whim and got trouble code P1756. What is your best guess?
