Any codes in the PCM? does the whole truck shut down or just the engine? does it start right back up?

For starters have the PCM (computer) scanned for codes, Autozone will do it for free. If the PCM sees a problem it will store a code that will help in diagnosing the problem, get back with the exact codes. If no codes,Do you have spark? fuel pressure? Need to verify these two things, if ok, then get a "noid" light and plug it in the injector harness to verify that it flashes while cranking, need to find out what is missing when it wont start. Might be an ASD Relay (auto shut-down) shutting off the PCM

I'm am not a mechanic, but I had a similar issue with my 2000 Durango. I would be driving normal, and it would either stutter, or simply die. It progressed over a week or 2 and finally quit. It would always restart, but only when it wanted to. I took it to Autozone and had the codes read. It popped off 6 codes (I don't remember right off hand), but the problem was the Cam Position Sensor ($35 at CarQuest). I replaced it, cleared the codes and everything was fine.
