it is useing oil but its not smoking and there is no leaks goin threw a quart ever 250 miles

That is a lot. Check to make sure it isn't mixing with the coolant (headgasket problem). Also, keep in mind, it has to be burning most of that. You may not see it if the converter is working properly.
