If the shift lever feels normal, See what the fluid looks like. If burnt make sure the transmission cooler is cleaned out if you replace or have it rebuilt. OK

You know, when stuff like what happened to your truck happens, I wish I could fix it for you. If the fluid looks clean but it is full, it may not be so bad. It has lost all hydraulic pressure and may just need a part that broke like the pump or reg. valve. That's why if your told it needs a rebuild, you will know already its burnt. But the cooler, if neglected is a repeat failure. I did these all day every day. Now I do cars. Good luck ok

Can you explian more about the cooler?
The vehicle is now at trans shop and will be removed on Monday I appriciate your help will keep up updated

If it has been towed, you must have checked the fluid and saw that it was black or dark and had a burnt smell, correct? Now at least if your told it is skot and needs work it is no tale of a problem that hasn't even occured.
The cooler is either built in to the radiator tank, or seperate and mounted on or near the radiator, looking like a small heat exchanger. A small radiator for transmission oil to cool off.
The temperature gets so hot in the trans, it needs to get rid of this heat properly, or failure will occur, especially with a large 4WD powertrain.
So it is tested and cleaned with an electric pump and its lbs of pressure that is required for cleaning is used to determine its flow.
No use putting a new unit in and having any pre-mature failure from heat. Either ask them to blow it out and clean it with clean degreasing fluid, or have a new one installed. One that has better heat transfer for a lower temperature at operating speeds. I want you to have it fixed once, and stay fixed for a long time. OK

Small spring in valve body BROKEN will do a complete rebuild since the unit is out already. This part seems to be a common problem SINCE they make an after market repair kit for this including a beefer plate for the valves Thanks for your help. FLUID OK
