when i started my 2004 dodge dakota this morning there was (and still is) a loud "lawn mower type motor" noise coming from the engine near the belt. it is significantly loud and was very alarming. i'm not the most vehicle savvy person. wish i was. FYI- i am in a definite need of an oil change...pretty black oil. transmission fluid is nice a red. thanks for the help

did you check the oil level
you need to do so and add if needed

also you need to have truck checked
i wouldn't drive much with out having it checked

after changing the oil and playing with the accelerator a bit, the oil pressure level normalized...bad fuel pump i think.
