have 2004 dodge dakota 28000 miles check 4wd light on wont switch from 2wd to 4wd its a automatic any answers and would this be covered under manufacters warrenty

Hi:
It is most likely a vacuum problem unless the vehicle has a push button to ingauge the 4X4. If it does, it could be the switch or the motor which switches the transfer case. As far as the warranty is concerned, it would be based on what is causing the problem.
