Whistling Noise

Does the noise stop when the vehicle stops (engine still running)?

Noise will stop as soon as you let off the gas, and sometimes does not come back. at full stop idling no noise tried brake and gas to make the noise and still nothing. mostly highway speeds and sometimes when it is colder like 10 degrees and colder it will happen during city driving.

I notice the exact same problem on my 2001 dakota. have you fixed the problem yet?

No, i did not find a solution to the problem i had too many problems with that particular truck and as of yesterday im the proud owner of a nissan Titan and all i can say is WOW. Now i know you mopar boys stick tight but that dodge was nothing but problems from the start

I replaced the serpentine belt and the tensioner and it fixed mine.....wasn't to hard to do myself

Have an 2003 Dakota 6 cyl automatic trans 4x4 makes a whistle only when it is cold outside. Below 30 deg F. The whistle is repeatable and occurs just before the transmission shifts in all gears. Steady whistle if you keep the rpms steady. Changing engine rpm makes it go away. Will also whistle in high gear going downhill around 50 to 55 mph with the throttle closed. No engine or transmission codes. Runs great just makes noise. Will not whistle while setting still, and still whistles after reaching normal operating temperature. Never makes noise when it is warm outside. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Check to make sure the fluid is clean and full. If it is, you need to check fluid pressure when it is cold. It may have to do with low pressure.

2003 Dodge Dakota 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 51.000 miles

At speed (doesn't seem to matter what speed), a high pitch whistle fades in, gets very loud, then fades back out. It seems to go away faster if I let off the gas, but it will go away nearly as fast even if I don't. It stays for varying durations from a few seconds to a minute. I assume it's some sort of audible alarm for a sensor failure or needing to be changed. Any ideas?

It's definately coming from the engine compartment.

I have the same vehicle doing the same thing. In my case it's a bad serp belt. Take a look at that.

Makes no sense. Which fluid? A shrill high pitched whistle sound- how does that translate to low fluid pressure? Low pressure at highway speeds? What does that have to do with a sound that is controlled by throttle position?

I have seen the IAC valve cause this issue as well, can you upload a short video of the problem so I can tell for sure?
