2001 Dodge Dakota Gas Gage doesnt work,

I have 2001 dodge dakota. The gas gage does not work it is stuck at the empty with the fuel light indictator on as well. Any Ideas?
Also the fan only works in position 4. The other positions to adjust the speed of the fan do nothing to activate it. Could this be a bad switch or more work than I want to know about.

Hi there,

I would say that the fuel tank sender has failed and the sender float is stuck on the bottom of the tank( low warning light on) as for the heater check the fan resistor has not burnt out, start here.
