there is some ticking for the first 3-5 minutes of running in the morning and after it has been sitting for more than 2-3 hours. it has been this way ever sinse i bought the truck at 65000 miles. the mechanic said it was probably worn lifters. i am not sure what that means but i was wondering what anyone else might think. and how much this would normally cost to get fixed.

The mechanic could be right all along with a leakdown problem with the lifters-When you change lifters -you also should change the camshaft

how much do you think i should expect to pay for such a repair on a 4.7 liter v8 including the camshaft? how experienced should i be to tackle this on my own?
