2000 Dodge Dakota Fuel Line

I first saw the newer fuel disconnect and thought that you had to just push the little round plastic lock in, towards the line or flare it is located in. It worked fine on new clean lines but older ones had to be cleaned, and I would spray them with silicone spray or clean and libricate them with something that worked and was safe. About a week later, I saw the disconnect tool. Since then I have bought and used it, about once every 20 times. I would use my thumb and forefinger on one hand, while grabbing the same steel line itself with he pinky, ring finger, and palm of the same hand. I used my other hand to hold and secure the item this line was connected to. It worked fine. But remember that your dealing with quite a bit of pressure and vapors that move tons of weight any distance in a very short period. So de-pressureize the fuel system by pushing the smasll schrader valve in on the 5/16ths98mm) pressure line on the engines fuel rail. Use glasses and a rag.
The proper way to de-pressureize any fuel system is in the vehicles service manual. Chrysler suggests using a vacuum pump, with a gage so it can be done safely and correctly. Hope I helped. ok
