1999 Dodge Dakota changing the oil pump

i took all the bolts out of the oil pan and went to drop the pan. I appears to be humg on the front of the transmission and i cant pull it down. Does the plate on the front of the transmission need to be removed?

i was hoping to not have through all that trouble. the pan is very very close to sliding out. the lip barely catchs on the front plate of the front of the transmission.

Okay, have you tried slightly jacking the engine up?
