Needed to know what the wire is that comes out of the bottom the distributor cap and where it goes to. Truck sat for a few months and got infested by mice and they chewed wires. Already replaced all spark plugs and wires and noticed that other wire was chewed through. So I need to know what it is and if I have to replace distributor to fix problem.

I have the truck listed above (Sport model) that shorted at the crankshaft position sensor. Upon replacing it with a new one I noticed the wiring harness had gotten hot and has a lot of wires melted together. I freed them and also noticed there are red wires coming out of the fuse box in the engine compartment that has white stripes. One of them is disconnected and I can't find the wiring diagram anywhere online to see where it goes. The ones I found have different colors. Please help me find or send me the schematic.

Good afternoon,

I attached the diagram for you to view. I highlighted the wires on the crank sensor.

Hey guys, I want to thank you for the replies and the diagrams. They sure helped me out. I usually do my own mechanical repairs and this one sure was tough. After days of troubleshooting I decided to take apart all the harnesses and go through all the wiring. You wouldn't believe all the wiring that was bad. Repaired and replaced. Installed a ECM I luckily found an a local salvage yard. It came off a 5.9 and I'm not sure how well it's going to do but my Dakota started right up. Not running very smooth but hopefully it'll even out when I get it on the highway. I'll let you know soon. Thanks again for your help.
