1998 Dodge Dakota abs light, dies at idle, hesitation

I was curious if the rear speed sensor could be the cause of my truck dying when slowing down to turn or coming to a stop. Just started to have some hesitation while driving as well. and the abs light has been on for a year now, but the other problems just started.

Did you try to retrieve for trouble codes?

Yes Ive had the codes pulled, even though it didnt light up. and they said that there were no codes. I also put a new speed sensor on rear differential. and still dies atleast once while driving, it runs a little rough too when idleing

Engine stalling while driving. Does it stall only when the acelerator is released?

Rough idling could be due to a fault with the idle control system and if the stalling while driving is when accelerator is released, then both should be related.

What is the idling speed?
Does it fluctuate when the A/C is turned ON?

Were the spark plugs and related items checked?

Yes it only dies when the acelerator is released. Checked the spark plugs.. theyre ok. It doesnt die all the time just like one time while driving for lets say an hour or so. Usually after it gets warmed up. What does the idle control system consist of?

Tha main item for the idle system wuld be the Idle Air Control (IAC) Motor and the htrottle body.

Get them cleaned and retest. Carb cleaner is an efficient cleaning agent for the throttle body and IAC.

should I remove to clean or clean it on the engine?

Removing to clean would be the preferred method but you cacn try cleaning without removing. Spray carb cleaner into the throttle body and IAC ports and let it soak for a while. Repeat process a few times and if possible, get a piece of rag to scrub the throttle body especially around the throttle plate.

Starting would be difficult the first time after cleaning due to the presence of carb cleaner which would flood the cylinders.
