So my dakota had a tranny leak from the front of the tranny, after pulling the tranny I discovered that the problem was the torque converter had broken the front cap off. I replaced the front seal and torque converter, put everything back together and took it for a test drive. When putting the truck into drive, it feels like its starting in second gear and takes for ever to get up to speed. I replaced the gov press solenoid and sensor, still have the same problem. Any ideas? I'm into the tranny for 400 already, maybe better to get a new one? Thanks for any help

Has the check engine light come on? Does it shift into other gears properly?

Yes engine light came on, read 1757 I believe, looked it up and pointed me to the gov solenoid and sensor. It does shift into other gears but not 1st. Been a little afraid to take it faster than 55.

THis is a tough one because you already repaired what the computer said was bad. The only other thing I can think of is a faulty valve body or shift solenoid.

It shouldn't need replaced then. Chances are the gov is where the problem is coming from. What I suggest it to take it to a trans shop, let them know what "You" want checked, the gov, and see what they find.

Let me know.
