My 98 Dakota has decided it no longer wants to idle when it is started. Its fine when driving, once I do get it moving (which takes some trickery), but then does it again when I stop and turn it off and come back to start it again (making it tough to go to the store).

Starts ok, Battery is only a year old.

This is not the first time this has happend, a year ago it was doing the same thing, but it only lasted a few days then went away and everything was fine untill about a month ago. Now it is getting worse and worse,. Used to be if I sat there with my foot on the gas for a few minutes when I started it, it would be ok, now that does not work either.

I am really hoping this is some kind of fuel problem that can be magically fixed with one of those fuel cleaners they sell at parts stores and gas stations.

Anyone advice?

Thanks

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Have you checked fuel pressure? When was the last tune up?
