I have a 1996 Dodge Dakota with 110,00 miles. Was running fine, just a bit of poor gas mileage. I installed a new catalytic converter, changed the spark plugs and when I cranked it up and drove it my fuel mileage dropped to less than 5 mpg. I then noticed raw fuel coming from the exhaust with thick excessive white smoke also pouring from exhaust. I also think I smell gas in the oil as well. No one seems to know or have never heard of raw fuel coming from exhaust, what could cause this type of problem? It has a 3.9 V6 motor.

have you engine head inspected for cracks and leaks. gasket as well. the smoke is a result of burning oil generally caused by bad seals in the crank case and what not. common in old cars. could be even worse like cracked pistons and rings. have a look at all of that.
