1996 Dodge Dakota Quick connect fittings

I am replacing the radiator. I have not figured out how to disconnect the quick connect fitting from the transmission to the radiator. The fittings have a two wing plastic flange. I've tried squeezing, pushing and pulling with no success. I don't want to apply too much force till I know what the proper way is to disconnect them. Any ideas?

After much searching I have come up with the answer to my own question. As a donation I will gladly depart this info to ALL as my DONATION. No tool is needed to remove this type of quick connect fitting. To remove first clean the fitting very very well by removing all grit and grim. (brake cleaning fluid, wd40, compressed air.) Then grip the two plastic wings and squeeze. At the same time move fitting slightly toward radiator to relieve pressure on plastic clip against the knurl. Then pull away from radiator fitting. The secret is that the clip must be absolutly clean to release from the knurl on the fitting. Also someone suggested replacing the fitting with a rubber hose and hose clamps. This would be ok for an emergency fix but you are eleminating a pressure valve that is part of the hose and quick connect fitting on the OEM assembly. Good Luck and keep it clean. ValleyMike
