1996 Dodge Dakota gas gaugh

When I fill it up the gaugh reads full but then in about 2 or 3 miles it starts bouncing around after 5 miles it reads empty. any ideas you have are great I hope very much to not have to drop the tank.

To me , it sounds like the fuel sending unit may need to be replaced . It's located in the tank ,so you would have to drop the gas tank to replace it .
