Transmission problem
1996 Dodge Dakota 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 185+ miles

My 96 Dakota seems to run great. After I drive it awhile, it feels like it starts to shift funny, like it's slipping in and out of gears. Only once did I step on the gas and it slip all together (no go). I checked the trainy fluid and added a quart, stills seems to shift odd. 4 wheel drive works great, I want to drive this thing across the country, what should I do to ensure it makes it. Thanks in advance for any actual help.

Hi:
I've owned Dakotas for the past 15 years. As far as the slipping, there is a chance the clutch plates are worn and slipping. Is there any problem with shifting?

Let me know.
