Engine Mechanical problem
1974 Dodge Challenger V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

its a 360 hp rebuilt .030+ w/stock rods stock crank hp cam engine was decked .005 and slght modified ...my problem is i get a vibration at 1100 rpm goes away at 1700 rpm and returns at 2000 rpm above 2150--2200 goes away .....i did have the engine balanced and i have a torque converter that does not have any weights .....neutral balance 2500 stall....also in the performance world b+m racing makes a flexplate with a notch cut out of it .....they use the term as less is equal.....the car in park engine running i feel the vibration in the steering wheel and transfers to the console ....goes away after 2500-3000 rpm......could this be a balancing problem
thanks i will hope to get a responce soon

thank you for your responce ...i own the dodge challenger that i questioned you about ......YES i did change the harmonic ballancer with a stock new replacement and the new one weighed the same it was the same size ..and the ballancer looked identical to the old one.......could a non-weighted tourque converter and a flexplate with a notch cut out of it cause a vibration all the time or not ........i only get this at a certain rpm.........

Yes that is a possibility it is a harmonic vibration. Was crank balanced as well as the weight of each rod and piston? You could unbolt torque convertor see if vibration stops.

Did you get this fixed yet? All 360s and the '73 340s are externally balanced and need the torque converter and vibration damper with weights on them.
