Can I use a window switch without 1-touch instead of 1-touch

Would the non 1-touch switch work in place of a 1-touch switch?

I have a 2003 Dodge Grand caravan and the driver's side window switch has stopped working. It went out gradually and a Midas repairman said it is the switch.

I am pretty sure it was the 1-touch window switch, but it has been so long since it worked that I am not sure.

Anyway, on wholesalemopar.com the difference in price on the switches is around $30 for one with 1-touch and one without. My wife says she hates 1-touch anyway since she hits it by accident all the time. Can I just use the non-1-touch switch?

You would have to check the wiring schematic to see any differences in controllers or the way it is wired.If there are no differences then it would be ok to do it.Are you sure it is the switch? The motors go out just as often and do it gradually like you described.

Well, I thought it might be the switch and then the head mechanic at our local MIDAS said I was right. Is there an easy way to test it or the motor?

pick up a switch at the junkyard, and see if it works. I am not to familiar with the 03 but doesn't the switch come as a pack for the passenger side window as well? if that one works and the drivers doesn't I would lean more towards the motor. I wouldn't buy a new one, unless you are 100% positive its the switch

If you remove the door panel, you can test for power and ground at the motor while operating the switch. Use a test light or meter.That test is free except for a little time

I'll see if I can find my Multimeter and try it tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

I really hate my local MIDAS guy now. I checked the switch and had 12V for both up and down operation. So now I need to find some resources on how to change the window motor for my vehicle. I think that is a topic for another thread, but if you have a great one and want to share it feel free!

They are all a little different.Some come motro/regulator as a package. Best bet is to get your new one and then you can see exactly what you are dealing with. If you have a digital cam, take pics as you go to refer to for reassembly if you should have a problem
