2007 Dodge Caravan Air Bag Sensor

Your vehicle has several air bag sensors. Below are the approximate times and labor cost for each.

All times approx.
For the front, right or left - labor time is 45 minutes to an hour ($56 labor charge)

For the pillar, right or left- labor time is 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes ($49 labor charge)

For the rear, right or left- labor time is 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes ($70 labor charge)

I need a little more specifics on your vehicle to better assist you. Is your model just a Caravan, or a Grand Caravan, or a S/V, SE, or SXT. Is your engine a 3.3L VIN E Flex Fuel, 3.3L VIN R, or 3.8L VIN LL. Please let me know what the 8th digit of your VIN is.

The van is a Grand Caravan. The 8th digit of the VIN is L. The sensor was in the front, the dealer said it was from hitting the curb or something. They charged me 3 hours labor @$105 per hour plus = $315. Plus $25 for Wiring and $25 for sensor.

They said the computer diagnosis found failed front crash sensor and harness.

Did I get ripped off by Chrysler? Is there any documented time for the labor so I can go back to the dealer? Thanks for your help

Hello - I don't think you were ripped off. Now does that sit well.....no....of course not. I did a quick estimate attached below. The labor charge I did was about 75 per hour. Remember labor charges for different areas are different. Wiring.....it isn't always easy to fix. For this system they have to be right on since this is a safety item. Although you would hope they would be on anything. My cost for the front sensor is even a little more....so they were a little less. Plus with these systems.....you have to run the diagnostic check and use their tester to reset the system. I am with you on not being happy about the cost but.......it is close......... Not too long ago after I changed the multifunction switch on a Mercedes.....before I installed the steering wheel plus the air bag....I did a quick turn the key on to check the switch. That instantly set the air bag light because it didn't see the airbag.....$45 to reset because I didn't have the MB reset tester. Again, labor rates are different for different areas. I believe they may have it posted. I hope this helps some......... Also, I checked for any recalls on your vehicle....I don't see any at this time. Thanks for the information bluelightnin6.
