2005 Dodge Caravan Fuel Gage and Fuel Pump

Gas gauge failure on 2005 dodge grand caravan. Gage reads full when vehicle is serviced with gas and tank is filled. As gas is used the gage will decrease correctly until 1/4 tank is remaining. Gauge then hangs up, showing 1/4 tank, and does not decrease as gas is used below 1/4 tank.

I am going to be changing the fuel pump as it also contains the fuel relay...does this sound like the appropriate repair?

replace the sending unit and see how it goes if you want or if what i woudl do is take the tank out and hook it up and hold float in full position and backprobe the signal coming out of the send unit in voltage and slowly moves to empty. if the voltage goes crazy when you get down towards the empty part then the send units bad. but if voltage slowly drops and evenly from full to empty you have a issue with the wiring or the guage.

I just picked up a sending unit (was under the belief you couldn't buy it separate, but was happily wrong). Will be replacing it soon, maybe tonight. I will post when it gets fixed.

Well, crap...

Got the sending unit all changed...tank and everything all put back together...and

now it is worse. Something I did. Yikes. Now the vehicle will only start and then die after a few seconds or if you apply any throttle. I have retraced all my steps and it is all hooked up seemingly correct...

Well, got it fixed. Lets just say those little O rings really do matter...

Yea, didn't have one installed and had no pressure. But all good to go now.

did the new sending unit remedy your problem?

It appears to so far. We are under a 1/4 of gas and the guage seems to be showing it accurately...
