2002 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

As I was driving down the road the radio turned off, heat turned off, and while hitting the gas pedal the rpms would jump up, this would last maybe 6 seconds then everything would return to normal. when the van "turned back on " there would be a jump in the car as it went forward.

At theft inner fender in front of the wheel well, locate the tranny control unit, unplug the connectors and inspect for water intrusion, and any corrosion, greenish/whitish jelly in any terminals, get a tube of dieelectric grease and apply it to the connectors then plug back in. Also, is your MIL on (check engine light). Try this to retrieve two digit codes, write down any that display. Is your check engine light on? If yes turn the key from off to on three times, on the fourth one leave it in the on position, the codes will display on the odometer, write em down and post em...

check the charging system How is the codition of the belt? or the auto shut down relay may be the problem The PCM operates the Automatic Shut Down (ASD) relay and fuel pump relays. The PCM operates them by switching the ground path for the solenoid side of the relays on and off. The ASD relay connects battery voltage to the fuel injectors and ignition coil. The fuel pump relay connects battery voltage to the fuel pump. A bus bar in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) supplies voltage to the coil side and contact side of the relay. The ASD relay power circuit contains a 25-amp fuse between the buss bar in the PDC and the relay. The fuses are located in the PDC.

Is there any code? check out this diagram. check for corroded generator ground, or lose.

no codes and now after checking all fuses and things its not doing it

Remove relay and check contact for corrosion merlin2021 have ask you to check for corrosion at the tranny control unit, that could also be the reason of the intermittent problem the vehicle is experiencing.
check it out and repport to us.

All relays and fuses were checked and tested. a full digonistic was done. no codes were found.

This only happened in the early morning when it was very cold outside. After everything was checked, we took it out for a test drive, and it did not short out again all afternoon.

I am going to do a test... I am going to take it out for a drive again in the early morning and see if it shorts out again.

Another common possibility is burned contacts in the ignition switch or overheated terminals in its connector. The radio and heater fan are the clue. They are both on the same circuit coming out of the switch. This is especially common when drivers use the heater fan on "high" a lot. The higher current for a prolonged period of time overwhelms the switch contacts.
