Have the van inspected at a tire or alignment shop. Wear on just one front tire has to do with the top of the tire leaning in or out more than specified. Usually this will also cause the van to pull to one side when you let go of the steeing wheel at highway speeds. The tire will wear excessively on the inside or outside edge.
One this van, a tire leaning too far will also cause it to turn in that same direction. To stop it from steering that way, you have to turn the steeing wheel. This results in the steeing wheel being off-center when driving straight ahead, and BOTH tires will show excessive wear.
Tire wear is caused by misalignment. Typical things that cause the alignment to change so much are worn ball joints, wobbling strut shafts, and lower control arm bushings. Since the '96 models, broken cross members are also possible if the stamped steel lower plate is missing.
