Check if you can change the cruise light off and on. If you can not, suspect a broken clock spring under the steering wheel. As it continues to break apart, the horn will also stop working and the air bag warning light will come on.

Try holding the brake pedal up with your toe when you press the "set" button. If that works, the switch is out of adjustment or defective. It uses a different section than the brake lights.

If neither of these suggestions work, find a mechanic with Chrysler's DRB3 hand-held computer, or scanner. That will display every input and output related to the cruise control system. It will also show the reason for the last cruise cutout. That could be ignition power, brake switch, vehicle speed too low, or on / off switch is pressed. Those could be the result of a broken wire, a misadjusted switch, or an intermittent speed sensor.
