2000 Dodge Caravan Changed out oil pump and now van will no

2000 Dodge Caravan 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Had to remove the oil pump and now the engine will turn over but it will not crank. I need suggestions on what to check. How can I tell if the timing is out and will that make it not crank at all?

Is the engine getting spark and fuel? Also, if it is out of time, chances are it will backfire, or have an unusuall sound when you try starting it. It may sound like one of the spark plugs is out.
