Recently we noticed (hard not to notice, actually) a loud thumping noise (much akin to that of a washing machine getting out-of-balance) issuing from the rear end of our Caravan while in motion. We had driven about 10-15 miles before the sound and vibrations started. I pulled to the side of the road and found the rear-right tire had no balancing weight attached, so I immediately got the tire balanced. However, the sound still persists. Today, I decided to replicate the sound, to try to figure it out. After driving for about 15 miles, at varying speeds, it finally started again when I got to about 50 mph. It begins very faintly, and steadily increases in volume and vibration over time. However, if I apply ANY braking, even so slight as just resting my foot on the brake pedal, the vibration immediately ceases. As soon as the brake is released, the vibration comes back. I have checked lugs, tire wear (all four tires are under 1 year old and rotated three months ago), and pulled both rear tires to check the drums, which seem seated nice and secure. This is our only vehicle, and I am perplexed. Any help GREATLY appreciated.

I believe that one or more drums are out of round, or the shoes are making this noise. Yep. You can measure the drums at 3 different spots.
