My Dodge grand caravan this morning went to back up got me out of the drive way then put it into drive but went back down to reverse car won't move into any other gears and won't even go in reverse. what is wrong? Just replaced the alternator.

unless the linkage came off the transmission, your transmission has internal failure and need to be rebuilt.
