Windowshield wipers on my 1996 dodge caravan le don't work. some times they go on by them self. my mechanic has replaced the switch on the column. Still don't work. Can you help?

When they do not work has anyone checked for power to the motor? Also, check and make sure the wiring plug on the motor is clean and not damaged. Let me know what you find.
