1990 Dodge Caravan oil warning light

Hi onefreq. Welcome to the forum. Which engine do you have? Does your instrument cluster include an oil pressure gauge? Most of the oil pumps are driven by the crankshaft snout and don't really fail completely. You wouldn't have made it 20 miles with a defective pump. It is much more likely the sending unit is at fault. The warning light means the oil pressure is low. It has nothing to do with level. Your mechanic can install a mechanical oil pressure gauge in place of the sending unit to measure the actual pressure. If the pressure is normal, the sending unit should be replaced.

Thanks, I'll have the sending unit checked.
The engine is 3.0 ltr, there is no oil gauge, only the oil warning icon lit up.
I made a mistake, the Dodge caravan is really a 1991.
