fuel problems

This could be a few things. First, even though you hear the pump, it may not have the pressure needed to keep the car running. You should check your fuel pressure. Also, I need you to check the power to the coil. See if you're only getting power when the key is in the start position and then loosing it when it's in the run position.

There is no external fuel filter only the one in the tank with the fuel pump. The pump must be removed to change it. It is considered a lifetime filter.

It sounds more like a crankshaft angle sensor that is going out.

The fuel injectors are well after the throttle body. In fact fuel never touches the throttle butterfly at all. They be come dirty from exhaust gas re circulation. And some are now servo driven instead of the old throttle cable! They start sticking and need to be cleaned or replaced this is a code on the dash the is an electrical lighting bolt between two parenthesis ( ). Fuel type and octane has nothing to do with this at all! Expertise= NASCAR Race engine builder with many championships!

This will solve the problem. It is a combination of two things, one the throttle plate is dirty and needs cleaning and the other is the mass air flow sensor which is also dirty and needs cleaning.
