1988 Dodge Aries Car turns on then off

1988 Dodge Aries 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Yesterday after work when I went to start up my car it would turn over then turn off, but I could keep the engine going by pumping the gas petal. I tried replacing the fuel filter but that didn't change anything.

Inspect and test the auto idle speed solenoid, throttle position sensor and manifold absolute pressure sensor, If it has an EGR valve clean that out too.
