Electrical problem
1985 Dodge Aries 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
Ok so basically this is what has been going on. My car has a brand new battery and alternator, both of which test fine in multiple parts stores (and this is actually the 5th alternator I've put on it). However, when I use a voltmeter to test the alternator by itself it only puts out 12 volts with no load added (no lights on).
this has been the case for all five alternators I got and the computer code reads 55 (nothing wrong). Also, I've tested all wires/fuses/fusable links and they are all good... also replaced the belt.
So what is this problem? Do I need to replace the entire computer or is it something small I've overlooked?
thanks
