Do the timing marks have to line up?

The check engine light code reads camshaft position sensor. I opened up the sensor and the timing marks are all off. Is that normal?

You have have to se the crankshaft to top dead center. When you do that then all the timing marks should line up.

Have you replaced the CMS? does the engine run okay?
