I'm trying to see if I need to replace my crankshaft position sensor.

First the codes I'm getting:

P0365
P0393
P0300
P0301
P0305
P0306

Next, what I've done thus far:

Replaced two camshaft position sensors, with no joy
Sent off DME for testing, came back with a clean bill of health
Checked the plugs on all four camshaft position sensors - they're all getting juice,

Does this point to a faulty crankshaft position sensor?

Thank you.

Hi,

Based on the codes, I don't suspect it is the crankshaft position sensor. The misfires are on the same side of the engine. You may have a stretched timing chain on that side. The vehicle has three chains, one for each bank/cams, and a third at the crank.

Have you removed the spark plugs to inspect them? Are there any different codes or are these all of them? If you clear the codes, do they come right back?

Let me know.

Joe

Yes, the codes come right back when cleared.

I'm actually planning to replace the plugs in the morning; I picked some up tonight. I'll do that, clear the codes and give you an update.

Hi,

That should take care of the misfires, but the camshaft position sensors may be a different story. Let me know the results. We'll try to figure this out together.

Take care,

Joe
