Hi there. First up I would just like to say a huge thank you for all the help and guidance you have provide me in the past. You guys have been awesome! Thanks.
Okay, my question, I know that you are car specialists but I am hoping that you might be able to point me in the right direction. I have a motorcycle that idles fine but shuts off when you give it gas while it is cold. Once the engine warms up it runs fine. Any ideas?

This is usually a sign of a lean mixture in any motor. An engine requires more fuel when cold because the fuel doesn't atomize this is why they have a choke and why you smell raw fuel in the exhaust then a motor is cold.
So my guess would be you have a partially blocked main jet, a blocked choke port or a vacuum leak somewhere and it is closing off when the metal expands. If the carb has a mixture screw that may be out of adjustment also. Some have them some don't.

The most common is a blocked port in which case you pull the carb and disassemble the whole thing and then jet carb clean through each port watching the exit to make sure you are getting good flow out of it.

Hope this helped.

This is great, thanks. I thought it might be running lean but was not sure if that would cause the issue. Thank you very much for the explanation, makes sense now. I had a suspicion that it might be a jet, like maybe the pilot jet. So I will pull the carbs and give them a real good cleaning and inspection and try again. Again, thanks much for the great guidance.
