Shuts off when I give it gas?

I've replaced the rotor and distributor cap. It cranks up every time but when I press the gas pedal it shuts off.

Hello Lisa,

The first thing I would do is replace the fuel filter. Here is the location so you can swap it out. It is also possible the fuel pump is going out or the catalytic converter is clogged. If you crank the engine over and do not feel a "pulse" from the tail pipe this can be the problem.

The Fuel Filter is Located at the right side of the engine above the starter motor.

Most people do not replace the filter because it is difficult to get to. FYI. Check out the images (below). Please upload pictures or videos in your response.

Changed the fuel filter, didn't fix the problem. The truck cranks and runs until I give it gas, then it shuts off. The catalytic converter is in good condition.

Okay, the next step is a vacuum leak or the EGR valve is stuck open.
