No engine light on but when we put it into drive it sputters and shuts off. We can put it in reverse, and it will go in reverse without problems.

Hi,
When you shift to drive, are you able to keep the engine running if you lightly touch the throttle? If you can, does it shift normally after it is moving?
When you come to a stop, does it stall?
