When I turn my defroster on air does not come out the driver side defrost vent causing the windshield to fog up and not clear.

Hi,
Do you have one or two vents for the defroster? I'm looking and it indicates one. Take a look at this removal and replacement procedure for the defroster duct work. The pictures attached correlate with the directions.

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement (See: Dashboard / Instrument Panel > Removal and Replacement).
2. Remove the windshield defrost duct from the HVAC module.
Installation Procedure

1. Inspect the windshield defrost duct seals. If damaged, replace using Kent Industries adhesive back foam tape P/N 46485 or equivalent.
2. Install the windshield defrost duct to the HVAC module.
3. Install the instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement (See: Dashboard / Instrument Panel > Removal and Replacement).
The duct connects directly to the HVAC box, so nothing should be disconnected if you are getting air flow out the other side.
There is a mode door actuator that is responsible for changing air flow direction. However, there is only one door for the defroster which again makes it sound like it is working.
If you look at pic 3, I circled the mode actuator. Make sure nothing is loose.
Let me know about the outlet on the dash for defrost. Are you sure nothing has fallen down inside and is blocking the air flow?

I have a Chevrolet Equinox LT SUV not a truck. There are 3 vents across the dashboard for defrosting the windshield.

The listing in my manual puts it under truck. I realize it's an SUV, but that is just how it is classified.
The idea that you have three vents doesn't surprise me. The supply still comes from one vent duct. Most likely it's restricted at the very top. Are you sure nothing has fallen down into the unit which can cause the problem? I dug back through the prints related to all the duct work and it only shows one supply. That's why I'm thinking there has to be a blockage.
