dash- trans light coming, trac control light, and car stalling

After replacing the battery, the DASH tans light, traction control, and anti lock lights have come on. I've owned this car for about 11 months, driven it about 6,000 miles. In the first 3 months of ownership (and at about 2K NEW miles on it) the car stalled (died) and upon restart the dash trans light came on, and the car seemed to go into a safe mode....I was able to drive the car two miles home, and upon restart ( a few hours later) every thing was fine, and stayed that way (for another 4K miles) and until just yesterday.

A few days ago I replaced the dead battery, and after a few hours if driving the car stalled, and upon restart the dashboard's transmission light, anti traction light, and anti lock light came on.Again the car went into what might be considered a safe mode, but I was able to drive it the (again) two miles back to the house.

A day later (today) when started, the Trans light is off, but the anti traction light, and the anti lock lights are still on.

If you've got one, use a scanner to pull the codes and let us know what you find out. If not, take it to a shop that does and scans for codes for free and then let us know what you find out.

All my life Jaguars have been known as "shop queens" meaning they spend more time in the shop than on the road.

Yha, I'll go to a shop and see about having the thing scanned....Not thrilled about that....
I've owned a number of Jags, and none of them were ever "shop queens".... I'm suspect the fact that this car is almost 20 years old may have more to do with failures than it's marque.

I've got a few friends that own them. Older and newer. If they spend a few hours a week tinkering/maintaining, they stay out of the shop for expensive repairs. If not, they drive their American cars quite a bit more. And age does also play a hand.

There are some stores like Autozone and such that will do code scans (pulling codes) for free. Just be sure that whoever you bring it to, they pull both hard and soft codes. Soft codes don't set the lights on the dash, but they could be driving other fault conditions that are setting the lights you see.
