My wife came home from work last week and told me the the ABS, airbag, VSA lights on the panel were staying on. I told her to park it and leave it. II will look at it in the morning. I got home and the following morning. The battery was completely drained. I replaced. Cranked it up. Lights are still on the panel but it smells like the new battery is cooking while the engine is idling. I have a 2006 3.0 Accord and never seen this before.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com. This sounds like a major concern. If there is a smell coming from the battery, please be careful. It can explode. Now, since the battery drained overnight, I want you to follow these directions to check for an electrical draw.

If you find there is no external draw, I want you to check the alternator's output. Follow these directions:

These directions are going to help me determine where to go next. Please remember to protect yourself and your eyes when working on any vehicle.

Let me know what you find., I will be looking for your reply.
Take care,
Joe

I just realized I provided the same link twice. Here is the link for checking an alternator.

I need to know the results of this test. If it has a faulty regulator, it will over charge and you'll smell the battery and it could cause a fire.
