Damaged fuel pump

Hi, I took my car to a garage for an mot which I knew it would pass apart from the front side light which I knew needed replaced.
The garage phoned me to say my car is now not starting and could I shed any light on this? IE, has this ever happened before? Which it had not, great car and the battery is less than a year old. They told me that a fuse had blown when they replaced the bulb and now the fuel pump is not working and I need a replacement, but this is not linked and the fuel pump could have went at any time and they are not liable to replace.

Any advice?

Good morning.

Just because they repaired something not related to your present issue, it does not mean they are liable. You would need to prove they did something wrong in order for them to be responsible.

Chances are the pump would have failed if you did not take it in for the issue. Sometimes things happen that we cannot explain. I had this happen to me many times and people tried to sue me over it and I always prevailed as the burden of proof was on the customer which they could not provide the proof.

The bottom line is that you need a fuel pump and need to get your car back. Get it repaired and ask for the old failed pump back and get someones else's opinion on the pump condition.
