Have '97 Daihatsu charade 1.3L man with 107,000kms ODM. I had major service (100,000km) and drove approx 700kms then didnt move the car for approx 6mths. 1st time car moved again I drove 200kms & stayed o'nite. Following morning I started car & noticed engine was surging when idling then about 140kms down road it overheated / boiled. I jimmy fan to remain on, however overheated approx 3-4 more times over next 40kms. Oil doesnt appear to have water in it or appear milky.....water appears clean. When o'heated, there wasnt any water running out of it anywhere.....nor did it seem to be using excessive amount of water. What is causing my car to o/heat & boil? Friend suggested it could be a timing or timing belt issue? The timing belt was a major replacement when the car only recently had a major service done by licensed mechanic.
