cylinder head removal

I got the valve cover off and and there is a chain on the camshaft sprocket and I'm wondering if I have to line anything up before I remove the chain and exactly how I remove the chain after I put a heavy duty rubber band on it to keep the tension on it once I remove the hydraulic chain tensioner

Yes, that is the timing chain and if you are not very familiar with doing this, you can get yourself in a lot of trouble. First off, it has 2 chains, one on each side. The whole front and back of the engine has to be stripped down to be able to set these up correctly and on this vehicle, the engine has to be removed to do this. I would suggest you think twice about tackling this job.
