How hard is it to overhaul a CVT? Is the 2005 the same as the earlier versions or is it improved at all?

Good morning.
No one overhauls the CVT transmission. They replace them with new units.
The parts and procedures require special tools to perform this procedure. It is cheaper to replace it than to try to rebuild it.
I would check for a good used one.

The reason I am asking is I read a reply from Saturn expert and he said he overhauled hundreds when GM was replacing them in the Vue. Also, I do not think there is such a thing as a good used Vue CVT. I know Saturn quit making them for a few months in 2004 so I was wondering if the 2005 was a better CVT?.

The reason the GM guy was doing it because they had all the equipment and the parts.
Yes, they are out there. You just need to find them.
www.car-part.com is what I used. I bought from LKQ. They warrantied their transmissions. They are pricey but they are good.
