new CV axles installed but driver side is leaking fluid?

Yep, if the axle is not installed completely, it will leak, and the car will go into neutral as well without warning so keep that in mind. Also, the seal could have been damaged when installing the CV axle. The more common reason is that the seal was damaged when the axle was changed. The seal isn't hard to replace, you remove the CV axle, then use a seal puller to remove the old seal. Install the new one (being sure the expander spring stays in place inside it) and re-install the axle.
